We’re Still Here
By gonzalez-girlz | November 15, 2016My name is Andrea Gonzalez And I am Hispanic!
My parents grew up in South America and came to the United States the way most immigrants come here, for a better life. My mom has worked her whole life to give my sister and I a life she never had. She instilled a strong work ethic and my father taught me to love everyone no matter what, and to never stop loving life. I believe in good hard-working people that appreciate being a part of this free country. This country was founded on immigrants and every family has a story. When the hell did we all forget that we all came from somewhere else, when did we stop caring about humanity, when did hate become a platform for our country?? On that note, I am proud to live in a blue state, where people still give a damn! I am eternally grateful for all that have stood up, all over this great nation to protest! There are still people in this country who will always stand up for what’s right, who will care for each other no matter your race, genre, or class. I am surrounded by crowds of protesters daily and I witnessed nothing but love from them, people are getting out of their cars and hugging protesters. Martin Luther King said it best, “Our lives begin to end, the day we become silent about things that matter.” Everyone is entitled to be heard under our 1st Amendment right. And guess what…We’re still here, and we’re not going anywhere, our voices will be heard, and we stand united!
The one thing I will take away from this tragic election is that, it has inspired me to get involved in my own community and be aware of what’s happening and what I can do to help, so something like this can NEVER happen again!
